Android 15 Set to Launch on October 15 for Pixel Devices
Google recently confirmed Android 15 would arrive this October, following the Beta Exit update release. A new report indicates that Pixel phones (Pixel 6 and newer) may receive Android 15 on October 15.

According to Android Headlines, the Android 15 update is expected 42 days after the operating system’s source code became available on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). This would make it the longest wait between the AOSP release and a public rollout, surpassing Android 12’s 15-day gap.
The extra development time may help deliver a more polished, bug-free Android 15, improving stability compared to previous versions.
While the October 15 date aligns well with the Android 15 branding, it’s important to approach this leak with caution. Android Headlines hasn’t provided a source for this date, and it’s possible the launch could be delayed if Google needs more time for bug fixes.
What About Non-Google Devices?
While Android 15 is set to arrive for Pixel users first, manufacturers like Samsung and OnePlus are also prepping their versions of the update. The delay between the AOSP release and Google’s official rollout could mean other manufacturers will follow suit quicker than usual.
Exciting New Features
Android 15 promises exciting enhancements:
Improved Battery Life: Devices on Android 15 may enter low-power “doze” mode faster than on Android 14, potentially extending battery life by up to three hours, according to Google’s VP of Engineering for Android, Dave Burke.
Lock Screen Widgets: Android 15 may reintroduce lock screen widgets, a feature last seen in Android 4, and may add a Communal Space feature, allowing shared access to apps directly from the lock screen.
Private Space: Similar to Samsung’s Secure Folder, Android 15 is expected to offer a Private Space, secured by a password, PIN, or biometrics, providing an extra layer of privacy for apps.
Google Gemini AI: Android 15 will also enhance Google’s Gemini AI, making features like Ask Photos and an on-device Gemini Nano more robust and private.

While these features look promising, it’s important to note that some of them may have limited app support at launch.
